Malacca

Malacca , whenever someone says they are going to Malacca for a vacation the first thing that comes in mind , (HOT SUN , DAMN THAT PLACE IS HOT , MUSEUMS , HISTORICAL SITES , MORE MUSEUMS and .... nothing much to do ...) . To be honest , that was what I thought too but not anymore! The FOOD there is amazing!

These are the must haves when you're visiting Malacca!
1. Famosa Chicken Rice Balls

Address :
28-30 Jalan Hang Kasturi, Off Jonker Street, Melaka 75200, Malaysia
Rice Balls
Roasted Duck (Honestly better than the steamed chicken so I highly recommend this)

Tau Geh (Vegetables can hardly go wrong so I have not much comments about this !)

Fish balls which are quite popular in this restaurant!

Tom Yum Cabbage ( ZE BOMB! IT'S A MUST HAVE CAUSE IT'S SO DELICIOUS !) It's sour and spicy just the way I like it! :)

Roasted Chicken and Steamed Chicken!

BBQ pork also known as Char Siew

Roasted Pork also known as CHAR SIEW

In my opinion , food here is alright some dishes were good some were just passable ! Let's talk about the dishes my boyfriend and his family thought was pretty awesome , first is the TOM YUM cabbage! It has the right balance of sour and spicy that's why by the end of the meal it's all gone! Then the Roast Duck is fantastic ! The meat texture isn't dry or tough and the the best is there's very little fat under the skin! *YAYS to all the health freak you don't have to worry about fats now!*
The Fishballs were one of our favorites too but I'd prefer it if it was more bouncy and chewy if you get what i mean but don't get me wrong it's not too bad :) OH BTW! IF YOU'RE HERE DON'T FORGET TO TRY THEIR CENDOL IT HAS THE REALLY NICE GULA MELAKA TASTE IN IT!(according to my boyfriend but I prefer Penang Road's Cendol more than this restaurant's cendol)

Those were the good things , now comes the bad things! The Roasted Pork is terrible! It's too salty and the skin is just not crunchy it's just hard :( . Moving onto the BBQ Pork , I prefer BBQ pork from " Overseas Restaurant " in KL they serve really good BBQ pork . The Steamed chicken and Roasted chicken were just normal nothing that really catches any attention :)

Finally the Chicken Rice Balls :) I actually quite like these Chicken rice balls because it's not too sticky but well I've never fancied chicken rice balls so it was alright I guess :)

2. BIKINI TOPPINGS
Address: Lorong Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia
Phone:+60 12-618 8821

If you're craving for a nice Coconut drink or anything COCONUT! this is the place to go to! It's just so refreshing and hands down AWESOME!

funny painting on the pillar :D

Anyone care to have some toppings on their BIKINI!?

Coconut Jelly that's supper YUMMY! and refreshing!

Coconut shake with strawberry ice cream!

Coconut Shake with Raspberry Ice cream

Aunty making us a nice coconut shake!

My favorite ! Coconut shake with Vanilla Ice cream

This place is a nice place to relax on a very hot day! The coconut shake works this way , you choose the ice cream you want and they'll blend it with coconut juice , ice and loads of coconut flesh! :) so you get tiny bits of surprise in your drink! You get a bit of ice cream and the coconut flesh :) We've suggested too the aunty that if they had Coconut ice cream it would make it even better cause then it'll really bring out the COCONUT flavor but still it was quite pleasant and we enjoyed ourselves :)

WORTH going to and I recommend you to go for coconut shake with vanilla ice cream and the coconut jelly is a must too!

3.Restaurant Nyonya Makko

Address : No. 123, Melaka 75000, Malaysia

Fried  Egg with Cincalok

Sambal Petai with Shrimp

Kangkung Belacan

Chicken and Potato something something (Sorry I forgot the name)

Fried Chicken

I don't know what this is called but it's like pork wrapped with bean curd skin ( Please show this picture for reference ) For now I guess we'll just call it Spring Roll pork

Salted vegetable soup (Not sure if I'm right or not but it taste sour )

Fried Fish with chili on it ( Not sure what it's called again sorry )

Fried Sotong !

Otak-Otak

This is by far the best restaurant I've been to in Malacca ! If you like spicy food or Nyonya food you'll love this place! From the time we sat down in the restaurant it was never empty , people kept coming and going , and without a reservation you'll not be able to get a table that's how good this place is !
First , the Sambal petai shrimp it is a must have , it's so delicious and spicy and the shrimps are fresh and juicy just the way I like it :) However , the Fried egg with cincalok is a bit too salty ! Otherwise it would have been very good too ! The Otak-otak is a must try too it might not look good but it's damn good! It is sort of crispy outside but soft and flavourful inside! The Spring Roll Pork is also a must have! It was gone really quick ! It is crispy outside and really juicy inside! I give it 5 out of 5 for this dish! The Fried Chicken however was very dry and not worth the money or tummy space ! The Chicken and potato thingy is very nice and tasty it's a must try! Going on to the fried sotong , it's really good! It's cooked to perfection it's crispy outside , and on the inside it's tender and juicy! Definitely worth a try!
That's about it for this restaurant !

These are the tastiest Putu Piring I've ever had in my life! They are so soft and fluffy , packed with delicious gula melaka and coconut shavings so it gives you the sweet and salty taste :D Absolutely delicious! It was worth the drive all the way to this place for Putu Piring ! They only start selling them around 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm :) So don't go before that cause you won't get it !!!
If you're in Malacca this is a must try cause it's gonna make you feel like you're in heaven with angels dancing around you !

No bad things about this putu piring at all!

5. Satay Celup -BAN LEE SIANG

Address :
45E, Jalan Ong Kim Wee, 75300 Melaka, Melaka

For all you Satay Lovers , You must try Satay celup in Malacca at least once!
We didn't go to the famous Capitol cause it was too crowded so we went to BAN LEE SIANG :) the satay sauce was quite nice but I'd prefer it if it was thicker but overall it wasn't too bad :) the gravy was flavorful ! For anyone of you that don't know what is satay celup it is basically steamboat but instead of chicken stock as soup , people use satay sauce hence why it's called SATAY CELUP! :)

Rate : 7/10

If you don't want to try this place , you can go take a number and line up at Capitol Satay Celup (Which is the most famous satay celup place in Malacca)

Address for Capitol Satay Celup :

6. Teo Soon Loong Chan Restaurant @ Jalan Hang Kasturi
Address : 55 Jalan Hang Kasturi , Melaka 75200 , Malaysia

This restaurant is really the true underdog ! It can be easily missed when walking by but once you're in there tasting the food that is served to you , your taste buds will be dancing in circles ! :)
Really Fantastic restaurant that serves really pleasant food!
Unfortunately I did not manage to take down pictures of the food but the food here is generally nice! just ask them to recommend you what food is good and you will not be disappointed by it!
One thing I would love to highlight is their OH-NI dessert ! It's yam paste served with steamed pumpkins and gingko nuts :) It's not too sweet and it has the right texture and flavor ! If you have a sweet tooth and is bored of western dessert it's time to try some Teo Chew dessert :)
